Local Authority Funding
If your loved one has been assessed as having eligible social care needs, Staffordshire County Council may fully or partially fund their attendance at our centre.
How it works:
1. Request a care needs assessment — contact Staffordshire Cares on 0300 111 8010 to request an assessment for your loved one
2. The assessment — a social care worker will assess your loved one’s needs and determine eligibility
3. The support plan — if eligible, a plan will be created outlining the support needed, which can include day centre attendance
4. Financial assessment — the council will assess whether you need to contribute towards the cost, based on income and savings
5. Placement — if [Centre Name] is identified as the right service, we’ll work with the council to arrange the placement

– You have the right to request an assessment at any time
– The assessment should consider all of your loved one’s needs — not just the ones the council is obliged to meet

Personal Budgets & Direct Payments
If your loved one is eligible for social care support, they may be offered a personal budget — a set amount of money allocated to meet their needs. With a direct payment, this money is paid directly to your loved one (or their representative) to arrange their own support.

Carer’s Allowance
If you provide 35+ hours of care per week, you may be eligible for Carer’s Allowance — £81.90 per week (2025/26 rate). This doesn’t directly fund day centre attendance but can help with overall household finances.
Carer’s Assessment
As a carer, you’re entitled to a carer’s assessment through Staffordshire County Council. This can identify support you need — which may include respite through a day centre placement for your loved one.
Benefits That May Help
Depending on your loved one’s circumstances, they may be entitled to:
– Personal Independence Payment (PIP) or Attendance Allowance — for help with daily living and mobility costs
– Universal Credit — if they’re on a low income
– Employment and Support Allowance (ESA) — if they’re unable to work due to disability

– Transport to and from the centre (available as an add-on — £XX per day, or arranged through the local authority)
– 1-to-1 support beyond standard staffing ratios (available at additional cost)
– Specialist therapies not provided in-house (we can arrange and signpost)

“Will the council pay for it?”

“How much will I have to contribute?”

“Is there a deposit or minimum commitment?”
